Our Process – From Design to Installation
At Surrey Bespoke Carpentry, we believe creating beautiful, bespoke furniture should be an enjoyable and straightforward experience.
From your first ideas through to the final installation, we guide you through every stage, taking the time to understand your requirements and ensure the finished piece is just right for your home.
Here's what you can expect when working with us.
Step 1 – Your Free Home Consultation
Every project begins with a friendly, no-obligation visit to your home.
We'll take the time to discuss your ideas, understand what you're looking to achieve and explore the possibilities for your space. Whether you have a clear vision or need a little inspiration, we're happy to offer practical advice and suggestions based on our experience.
We'll also look at the available space, discuss suitable materials and finishes, and consider how your bespoke furniture will work within your home.
There's no charge for this initial visit and no obligation to proceed.
Step 2 – Your Initial Estimate
Following our visit, we'll provide an initial cost estimate based on what we've discussed and your requirements.
This gives you a realistic indication of the likely investment before spending time working through the finer details of the design.
As every piece of furniture is made to measure, the final price may change depending on the materials, specifications and any adjustments made as the project develops.
We believe in being open and transparent about costs, so you'll have a clear understanding of the estimated budget before deciding whether to move forward.
Step 3 – Booking Your Project
Once you're happy with the initial estimate and would like to proceed, we'll ask for a 10% booking deposit.
This secures your place in our workshop schedule and allows us to allocate time for your project.
We'll discuss the anticipated timescales with you so you know what to expect as we move towards the design and manufacturing stages.
Step 4 – Bringing Your Ideas to Life
Sometimes it's difficult to picture exactly how a piece of furniture will look in your home, especially when it's being designed from scratch.
That's why we offer a CAD design service, allowing you to see a detailed drawing of your proposed furniture before it's made.
This is particularly useful for fitted wardrobes, alcove cabinetry, media units, bookcases and other made-to-measure furniture.
You'll have the opportunity to review the design and request up to two rounds of amendments, helping you refine the layout, proportions and details until you're happy with the finished concept.
Once everything has been agreed, we can move forward with confidence, knowing we're working towards the same vision.
Step 5 – Final Approval & Materials
With your design and specifications agreed, we'll confirm the final details and cost of your project.
At this stage, we'll request a further 40% payment to cover the purchase of materials and preparation for manufacturing.
We'll then order the necessary materials and prepare everything for your furniture to be made.
Step 6 – Expertly Made in Our Workshop
Your bespoke furniture is carefully manufactured in our workshop, where we can focus on precision, quality and attention to detail.
Wherever practical, we build and assemble as much of your furniture as possible before bringing it to your home.
This helps minimise disruption during installation, reduces the amount of work required on site and allows us to maintain a high standard of workmanship throughout.
Every piece is made specifically for your space, rather than adapted from standard, off-the-shelf furniture.
Step 7 – Delivery & Installation
Once your furniture is ready, we'll arrange a convenient time to deliver and install it in your home.
We'll carefully fit everything into place, making any necessary adjustments to ensure a neat, professional finish.
Your furniture will be installed and prepared ready for painting, allowing you to choose the final colour and finish that best complements your home.
Our aim is to make the installation process as smooth and efficient as possible, leaving you with beautifully fitted furniture ready for its finishing touches.
